The Adopt-A-Family program is a treasured tradition for Canal Winchester Human Services, dating back to 1955. The "giving spirit" of the Christmas season is brought to many homes in Canal Winchester and Lithopolis. "Adopted" children receive clothes, socks, underwear, pajamas, shoes, and three small "wishes." In addition, coats, mittens, and hats of all sizes are available at our building for individuals who need them. Finally, each family is given a generous food basket to help them into the New Year.

We partner with the City of Canal Winchester and the Joint Recreational District to carry out this festive, annual event.
***New Location: McGill Park-6725 Lithopolis-Winchester Rd***
The Community Gardens bring joy and sustenance to our local residents. Thirty beds are located in the back of the Food Pantry building located at 80 Covenant Way, Canal Winchester. Each bed is maintained by a different household throughout the growing season.
2024 growing season has come to and end. Applications for the 2025 gardening season will become available in the spring.
Our Emergency Assistance program originated in 1955 when a house fire left a family without a home. To this day, the program assists individuals and families within the Canal Winchester School District who are in financial crisis. Assistance is provided to help with either rent/mortgage or utilities.
Please fill out the Emergency Assistance request form (scroll down to bottom of the page) and email the completed form to Aletha Mullins at: aletha.mullins@cwhumanservices.org
***Please allow 2-3 business days for an emailed response.***
