COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

Adopt-A-Family

City Easter Egg Hunt

City Easter Egg Hunt

The Adopt-A-Family program is a treasured tradition for Canal Winchester Human Services, dating back to 1955. The "giving spirit" of the Christmas season is brought to many homes in Canal Winchester and Lithopolis. "Adopted" children receive clothes, socks, underwear, pajamas, shoes, and three small "wishes." In addition, coats, mittens, and hats of all sizes are available at our building for individuals who need them. Finally, each family is given a generous food basket to help them into the New Year.

Emergency Assistance

The Community Gardens bring joy and sustenance to our local residents. Thirty beds are located in the back of the Food Pantry building located at 80 Covenant Way, Canal Winchester.   Each bed is maintained by a different household throughout the growing season.

All of the beds have been claimed for the 2023 growing season. Check back next spring!

Emergency Assistance

Our Emergency Assistance program originated in 1955 when a house fire left a family without a home. To this day, the program assists individuals and families within the Canal Winchester School District who are in financial crisis. Assistance is provided for immediate help with both rent/mortgage and utilities.

Special thanks to  Hope United Methodist Church, David's Evangelical Lutheran Church, David's United Church of Christ, Gender Road Christian Church, New Faith Church, Lithopolis United Methodist Church, Bloom Baptist Church, CornerSmith's, Impact Nutrition, TS Tech, Senior Citizens Club and the Canal Winchester Community Center for partnering with us to prepare our students for success.
