Community Care Days

A group of people posing outdoors on a sunny day.

Community Care days are hosted in the spring and fall as ways of giving back to the seniors 50 or older living in the Canal Winchester School District. Various organizations and individuals gather to help with outdoor home maintenance such as yard work and window washing.

If you are interested in volunteering, check back to see when our next dates are!

If you know an eligible senior, call Canal Winchester Human Services at 614-834-4700 when the dates are posted!

Twice a month, trips are planned by Canal Winchester Human Services, and transportation is provided through our Senior Transportation program. Our drivers look forward to these social events with our seniors.  Examples of trips include: baseball games, theater performances, park visits, historical tours, and lunch outings. If interested, one must be an active member of the Senior Citizens Club ($10 yearly membership fee). To sign up or obtain more information, call (614) 837-8276.

Smiles for Miles

Smiling sun and road inside a heart with 'Smiles for Miles' text.

Smiles for Miles is a heartfelt senior outreach program led by Canal Winchester Human Services. Through thoughtful acts of kindness—like surprise porch drop-offs, or friendly check-ins, our staff and volunteers bring joy and connection to senior citizens in our community. Whether it’s a bouquet of flowers, a cheerful card, or simply a listening ear, every gesture is a reminder that our seniors are seen, valued, and never alone.

Together, we go the extra mile—just to make someone smile.
